The Grand Commanders of the Teutonic
Order
The Grand Commander (Commendatore Magnus)
was one of five so-called large area Hilfiger of the Teutonic Order. He was the Deputy Grand Master , and took it from a long
illness or absence. ( Ordensmarschall , Großspittler, Oberster Tressler, und Oberster Trappier) Like the other four
major areas Hilfiger ( Order of Marshal , Großspittler, Supreme Tressler, and Supreme Trappier) he was not elected,
but determined by the Grand Master himself, His official residence was the Marienburg . The Grand Commander was responsible for oversight of the religious treasure and all the stores. He checked the accounts
of religious stress moth (responsible for the finances of large field strength) and led the debt register of the Order. He
too was under the Firm Arie (retirement home) and the military system of Marienburg.
